At 18,915 tons, this ship of Brunel's was so big it’s size was not exceeded until 1899. She was the biggest ship in the world by six times and had berths for 3000 people. Great Eastern ended up being used as a floating fun fair on the Mersey and a floating advertisement for Lewis’s department store.
