The main station building at Hunts Cross as seen from platform levelHunts Cross station is now on Merseyrail's "Northern Line" since the extension of electrification of the line south of central Liverpool. This enables through trains to operate from Hunts Cross all the way to Southport in the north.

The photo on the right shows the main station building from the platforms. Part of the old footbridge which ran parallel with the road bridge (right of the view) can also be seen.

Hunts Cross Station 'City Line' platformsHunts Cross was originally part of the Cheshire Lines Railway with this line opening on the 1st of March 1873 and the station opening in May 1874.

The photo on the left shows the station platforms serving Merseyrail's "City Line" which uses diesel multiple unit trains. Also in the view is the new footbridge which is a little further east of the original one in the first photo. The "Northern Line" platform is to the right of this view.
