Bank Hall station now forms part of the Merseyrail "Northern Line" between Sandhills and Bootle on the Liverpool and Southport route.
Bank Hall was originally part of the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway. The line opened on the 1st of October 1850 and the station itself opened in 1870.
