Milton Keynes Scale Model Club 1st February 2009

After several years of a presence at this Show, the UK Card Modellers Group were pleased to have been invited once again. Represented by David Hathaway, Mike Stamper and daughter Jenny, Doug Paper, Graham Dixey and myself. We were also joined by two surprise new exhibitors who brought along wonderful paper models. Martin Kaye with a large selection of aircraft and Formula 1 cars, and late in the day by Yinan Wang with some amazing tiny paper figures.
We were squeezed into the same position as last year at the end of a balcony above the main hall, with little room for expansion. But with the help of an extra folding table, we put on a fairly large and varied display. As usual, we were engaged for most of the day with what I thought to be an even larger number of passing visitors, together with the many plastic model exhibitors who come for a chat each year and to see what they’re missing out on........ My own corner was a little sparse, (not had a chance this year to build anything new), but I was armed with a few automata, the only models in the whole show to have a sign which said ‘Please Touch’. I enjoyed myself by keeping both the young and old entertained by turning my handles........

Mike’s Carcassonne, with a varied collection of animals, figures and architecture
Including this chap, and a bizarre head overlooking David’s busy wharf
A wonderful Titanic from David, with his great collection of lighthouses
Graham’s table, including a fine collection of Micromodels and Ray Morris locomotives
My various automata and motley collection. Pino’s ‘George W Waving Goodbye’ (chopped short in the picture) proved to be topical and popular ..........
Above are Martin’s various aircraft and cars. The large pic is his
beautiful William’s FW26 from Metmania.
These beautiful and intricate tiny figures were brought in by Yinan.
The delicate figure on the right is little more than 10 cm tall.
