HMS Queen Elizabeth under construction

I created a time lapse film of HMS Queen Elizabeth as it was built by taking a photograph from the same spot every few weeks, for three years. There's no sound track, though I could probably find some non-naff royalty-free music on the internet if I look hard enough.

Steam engines at Bo'ness 2014 | 2015 | 2018 | 2022

I visited the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway in September 2014 in the hoping of seeing Duchess of Sutherland, but I didn't get a chance to take any pictures. The place was full of screaming weans, there to see a well-known fictional steam engine. In May 2015 I was back again for their mixed traffic gala. Diesels were also in action for this event, but I only managed to film the steam engines.

In November 2018 they had a steam gala featuring the return to action of Caledonian Railway number 419, and the first visit of CR 828. The May 2022 shows the return of Austerity "Fife Area No. 19" to traffic.

The video was shot on standard 8mm cine film, then scanned in HD and remastered with the frame rate doubled to 30fps using artificial intelligence software.

Autumn 2015

A time lapse video created from multiple photographs recorded over a period of around six weeks. Each picture was taken from the same spot at my front door in Lanarkshire, Scotland, but I moved house before all the leaves had a chance to fall. Nevertheless, there was a prolonged spell of good weather and it would be churlish to complain.

Model railway 2015

My old model railway. It was to 00 gauge with finescale track, and represented a location somewhere in Scotland. The buildings are either modified kits or scratch built. Many of the latter are based on real buildings near the harbour in Kirkcaldy, where I grew up.

Model railway 2020

My new model railway, Pathhead Shed. It was built mostly as a way to display my collection of engines, and is based on Wick in the far north of Scotland.
