The G10 Winch From Goodwinch.

For 6 years the X9 winch from Superwinch has been the choice of many off roaders. Having used one many times, their ease of use and reliability is not something one would question. However, despite being rated at 9000lbs they always seem to grind away when pulling heavier off roaders. Overheating is quite a common occurence as is jamming of the cable on longer pulls.

Well, now there maybe a solution. David Bowyer, who has been involved in off roading and winches as long as I can remember has been researching and developing with Superwinch the new G10. The aim of this development was to produce an easy to fit and maintain electric winch, suitable for both commercial and personal use.

The G10 is based upon the X9 but with various parts enhanced or replaced. Some of the enhancements are listed here:

The changes to the G10 mean it has a stall capacity of 10,000lbs, which is quite an improvement over the X9.

Having now seen this winch in action in France, it appears to live up to its claims. Being used on the front of an Auverlander was not as arduous as pulling a fully laden competition Land Rover but time will tell how this newcomer will fair. As they start to be used we will bring you updates to keep you informed.

Pricing for the G10 is comparable to other winches in this class at around £900 for the bare winch or £1300 for a package including a replacement bumper.
