The Music Master, E.G.Holmes, taking a Choral Society rehearsal. Music was not normally the highest priority for schools like Warwick, and it is to E.G.H.'s credit that he stirred up a good deal of interest, built up the orchestra, and persuaded the Headmaster to cough up funds for various instruments which could be lent to boys to learn on. |
R.W.Long (English) One of the most popular masters, capable of making lessons interesting and keeping order without difficulty - I never once heard him raise his voice. He produced at least some of the school plays I remember seeing, including 'The Devil's Disciple', a modern dress 'Macbeth', and excellent 'Our Town' and a gripping 'Morning Departure' - all staged and performed to a high standard. |
