Quiller - Couch, A. T. - The Ship of Stars. Cassell, 1899, 1st. This is one of the few long stories which Q has written. It is a love story, full of beautiful local colour and of vivid sketches of West Country life, scenery and character. (Cassell's blurb). 8" x 5ź", 320pp plus 24pp Cassell's booklists (which have some facsimile author's signatures [R. L. Stevenson, J. M. Barrie, Rider Haggard, Max Pemberton, Anthony Hope, A. Conan Doyle, L. T. Meade etc]), red cloth, gold blocked lettering, hardback. Top-edge gilt. Printed on laid paper. Spine sunned; top-edge gilt dulled; faint/slight marks to boards, inscription on verso of front-free endpaper; slight corner rounding; slight foxing; good, solid copy, no wrapper.

Quiver - The Quiver: An Illustrated Magazine for Sunday and General Reading. Cassell, Petter, Galpin & Co. Title-page says 1880, volume 15 (XV), but the are pages numbered 129 to 760 then 1 to 128; the first set (129-760 match the centents) the second set (1 to 128) do not and are probably from volume 16, but I can't confirm this. 10" x 7", 888pp plus 12 plates, half black leather, gold blocked spine lettering and decoration, hardback. Index. Illustrated with 12 monochrome plates and within the text with monochrome drawings. Several plates have faint mirror images of adverts on their 'blank' sides; you can read them with the aid of a mirror but they are very faint. Misbound, see above; edge and corner wear, some rubbing to baords, front internal-hinge splitting along paper but still very firm, the odd fox spot, generally sound, good, copy (no wrapper). A bit of an odd volume.
