Quiller~Couch, Mabel - Kitty Trenire. Nelson's Stories for Girls series. Nelson, not dated, inscribed 1922. The heroine of this well-told story is kitty Trenire, who, though a young girl, acts as her father's housekeeper. She is superseded by Aunt Pike, and 'impossible' person who is accompanied by her deceptive daughter Anna. kitty is wrongly suspected of being Anna's accomplice in a surreptitious correspondence and incurs her aunt's wrath, do which fuel is added when by an unlucky mischance Anna develops pneumonia. Finally the wrong is righted and all ends happily. (Wrapper back). 6½" x 4¼", 362pp plus 1 plate, grey-green buckram blocked in yellow and black with a design, hardback. Top-front corners very slightly 'bumped' (probably binding-machine 'grip'), pencil inscription on front-free endpaper, browning to sides of endpapers facing paste-downs, very good, clean copy, complete with good wrapper.
