Children at St Mary's

A Warm Welcome
St. Mary's offers a very warm welcome to families with children of all ages. We take children seriously as enquiring Christians and aim to support parents and carers in nurturing their children's faith.

Babies & Toddlers
Your baby's needs change from month to month, and he or she will soon outgrow the stage of lying there peacefully through an entire Sunday morning service!  We have a friendly toddlers' Sunday School where you can take your toddler for any part (or all) of the service and a baby's safe area at the back of church.

Babies' & Toddlers' Service
Every Monday at 9.15am in Dimson Lodge there is an open Toddlers' Group run by the church, and every Thursday at 10.15am there is a special Babies' and Toddlers' service in church. This is a very friendly and informal way to introduce young children to Christian Worship and for parents and carers to meet others in the congregation.

Sunday School

For preschool and school-age children, St. Mary's has a vibrant and welcoming Sunday School which is always glad to have new members.

Children's Choir

Our Children's Choir, for children aged 7-13, is warm, fun and friendly. It follows the Royal School of Church Music curriculum for the training of young voices in both theory and performance technique.

Children and Communion
Parents vary in their approach to children taking Communion before they are confirmed and St Mary's welcomes a variety of practice.  The Vicar is always happy to discuss this issue with you confidentially.
