12th scale house restyle for Sylvanian Hedgehog family

The DHE 12th scale Mary Beths Store as bought

This is the house I am going to customise to suit my Sylvanian Hedgehog family.
I am Calling it Hazelnut View, my friends have helped me with the name. :)
I will be showing the various steps and changes I make.
The family of Hedgehogs are already interested in moving in!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
There are 2 levels with a large rooms on each level.
I shall be splitting both rooms in half to make 4 rooms.
The floor is already scored, looks like floor boards and
will be varnished darker at a later date.
Maxie checks out the ground floor!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have removed a small pediment from the porch and shall be
covering the porch roof with either twigs/slates/thatching.
The porch will have a home made swinging bench and plants etc
and two pieces of real branch will support it (better than the pink ones!)
I have carefully removed the windows and put them in a safe place.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is the inside of the big front door The window frames and door frame
lightly sanded ready to Paint/varnish.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Our Yorkie Maxie seems to like the changes!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A digitaly painted design of beams placed on the front and the frames brown
! This is the way I will go. Rustic Beams inside and outside.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Another digitaly painted design of beams placed on the front and the frames brown.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A view of the beams cut and placed on but not yet painted and stuck down
Also there are 2 window boxes. I am going to size and stain varnish the beams
before sticking them on.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

My SF Living room furniture for my Hazelnut view arrived today.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The front of the house is now just about finished!.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The finished front door! Needs a door knob.....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The beams............with a little changing there is enough height for 2 mezzanine
levels. TackywaxLiz's Excellent Rosmarinus build inspired me with her Mezzanine floor!
Thanks Liz!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A quick look with a piece of cardboard tells me the 2 Mezzanines will work!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Mezzanine floors in place!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Another view of the Mezzanine floors...
The supports will be stainvarnished to match the beams.!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The front door.. bamboo 'thatched' porch roof...
The supports painted burnt sienna.!!
Not made up my mind about the porch floor yet!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Maxie likes my new curtains and having his photo took!!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Close-up of my hand made nets and velvet curtains and wooden pelmets decorated .

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am far enough on with this Hazelnut View Sylvanian home project
to say it will feature in my Sylvanian Christmas Story!
I have been making ear muffs with pipecleaners for the children! Here are the Colley twins Jeremy and Mia and Ambrose Walnut in their winter warm ear muffs!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A swinging Bench / bed hung in the porch! Made with balsa and string hung on 2 hooks.
varnished then covered!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is a little quick make wash stand for my sylvanian Hazelnut View.
I will be doing more to this but until I make my mind up I am staring at it!
All I do know is the edges will be painted gold!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The wash stand after adding gold paint on the edges and filling with towels!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I made a rustic 12th scale bed using Balsa and stainvarnished it a few years ago and never used it.
So, I have re-sized it in height and length and made new bedding
to fit Mr and Mrs Hazel Hedgehog. I have also added gold embellishments.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One of 2 matching bedside cabinets I have made using balsa in rustic fashion to match the bed.
Shall add some more ornaments later!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sylvanian rustic Kitchen 2 photos!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have made a simple dressing table with gold lining on the edges and a curtain.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A hand made wardrobe with curtains...........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

APeek inside the wardrobe showing storage space!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A look at the whole home made rustic styled bedroom under the mezzanine floor!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A look at Mr Hazel's carpentry work! He is very proud of it! It isn't finished yet but it won't be too long!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On the ground floor is a small Mezzanine level for Mrs Hazel who is a seamstress,
She will do all her sewing up there. Mr Hazel doesn't yet know that his wife has more
carpentry jobs for him in her sewing room!! :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The finished shelf and unit with little flowers on it! Mrs Hedgehog is happy!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Mrs Hedgehog has thought of telling mr hedgehog about the other jobs
................but will wait!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I er...............Mrs Hedgehog has hand painted a little curtain for the base unit!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The whole Sylvanian kitchen is about finished. I have painted a tablecloth to match
the dresser curtain and shall put a false window over the sink with matching curtains!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The whole Sylvanian bath area. I have designed the tile sheet and printed it out
on photo paper. Just a mirror and a few washing items needed now!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
False window.............
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

False window with curtains I can see with this pic I need to tighten the elastic
holding the curtain. Designed and printed the tiles!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
An overall view of the inside.....virtually done but if
I add any more I shall take photos and put them here!
I am going to start another Sylvanian project very shortly about a friendly witch called Hazel.
Witch Hazel is a herbalist and keeps all sylvanians healthy and well, she also teaches
the children how to mix potions with the herbs........
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

More steps will follow ...........
