12th scale Gypsy Caravan
Making the furniture, soft furnishings, decorating then decorating the furniture

This is the bed and pelmet I made using balsa, sized and stain varnished.
It is now ready to decorate and make bedding and drapes for.
The inside of the caravan is looking a bit tatty at the moment.
I am making the windows a little smaller. I have removed two large pieces
of wood that were false cupboards
from the bed area and given it all a light sanding.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is the bed with just sheets on to give me a rough idea of how things are going.
The bed is also raised on the caravan ledge with storage space underneath.
I don't yet know if the storage space will have curtains or doors!
The leaded windows can also be seen.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I have made the windows smaller to give me more wall space and fitted leaded windows.
Window shutters will be made and fitted to the outside of the windows after painting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A shot of the bed minus the pelmet , the drawers and the seating (uncovered) unit.
All need sizing and painting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A side shot through the door of the drawers and seat.........Still loads to do!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Veneering the Cupboards / wardrobes.....using balsa
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Now the veneering is done,sanded, sized and stain varnished! Glad about that,
I wasn't looking forward to veneering with balsa but it worked out!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is the inside after painting pastel green.
Things are taking shape now but still a lot to do!
I shall be making good use of the space under the bed!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

A different angle......

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Yet another angle showing my stove.
No furniture or fittings etc are stuck in as I want to add
some fancy designs to the woodwork.
I shall be adding thin beams inside and put patterns on them too.
I shall also be putting a few shelves in and pelmets for curtains.
Starting to decorate the furniture
Another shot of the gold pattern........
Added some painted flowers and a little sparkle!
This pattern is now on all the furniture.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Added some velvet drapes to the bed. Next is some propper bedding!
The light coloured blobs on the glass flowers is blue tack
I didn't want to use glue at this stage........

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
My litle Maxie did his favourite pose !
He wanted his photo taking when I got my camera out.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here is an inside shot of the bedroom, showing the fancy beading on the pelmet

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is te table showing in detail of the pattern I have made up for the furniture
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The side of the table.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
With the pattern being very repetitive and my eyesight poor,
I devised an easy way of painting it Here ae the 'tools' I carved to make the pattern. The one
with green paint on is also used for the gold edging pattern.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here is the table, shelves and most of the furniture together!
The table will be stored under the bed when not in use!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Here is a fancy pelmet with litte curtains added!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Here, I have made some fancy little beams to match the woodwork!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
