St.
Theodore of Tarsus, Archbishop of Cantebury (690 AD)
St. Theodore Ecclesiastical Trust (S.T.E.T.) is a Charity whose Deed includes the
following Objects Clause:-
Clause 4 (extract):
The Objects of the Charity shall be to promote the
Christian religion the advancement of education the relief of poverty and
such other charitable objectives as the Trustees may from time to time
decide in particular by action:-
(i) To promote, sustain, encourage, foster and
maintain full and part-time both priestly, diaconal and episcopal ministry
and also any appropriate lay apostolate or leadership role, including the
theological training of those who accept the Orthodox and Catholic Faith,
observe the practices of the Orthodox and Catholic Religion and have
declared their agreement with the objects of this Charity.
(ii) To provide financial and other assistance
to any beneficiaries of this Charity by means of the provision of
literature, housing, transport, clothing, pensions and other support which,
in the considered opinion of the Trustees, will materially advance
the-purposes of the Charity.
(iii) To provide financial assistance towards
the cost of maintenance, repair, improvement and use of buildings used in
connection with the furtherance of the objects of the Charity.
S.T.E.T. resources not only the work of St. Aidan's parish
but also other Orthodox initiatives locally, regionally and nationally.
Whereas it would be fair to say that St. Aidan's Orthodox Church, Manchester
receives the lion share of this funding (most present donors being members
of the parish) there is no limit within the Objects to the initiatives it
can support. Donors who would like to have the trustees
allocate their giving to specific causes should make this clear BEFORE the
donation is made. In all cases, the final decision lies with the
trustees as specified in the trust deed.
