Listed below are one or two points that the newcomer to our hobby may want to know. Sometimes when the more experienced breeders are talking, beginners to the hobby are sometimes at a lost as to the fullness of what is meant.
When people talk about the colour of Budgerigars as in blues and greens to the more experienced breeder this means more than is actually said. There are three shades in all of the colours except the Violet. The colours are in the following groups -
Light :- Skyblue, Light Green, Light Grey, Light Yellow and White Blue
Medium :- Cobalt. Dark Green, Mid Grey, Dark Yellow. and White Cobalt.
Dark :- Mauve, Olive, Dark Grey, Olive Yellow, and White Mauve.
When crossing over any combination of light medium and dark they are shown in the following way
Light X Light :- This will give you 100% light .
Medium X Medium :- This will give you , 25% light, 50% Medium, 25% Dark
Dark X Dark :- This will give you 100% dark.
Dark X Medium :- This will give you 100% medium
