Fitting the WestCo Replacement Battery

Our Roadster came with a "wet" cell battery, which was spilling acid everywhere. The floor where it sat was actually rusting slightly. So, out came the old battery, then a rub down to clear the (surface) rust, and a coat of Red Hammerite.

I got a WestCo sealed battery , Reference - WestCo 12V 31M Batt , price about 65 pounds. This also fits the MX5 Mk 1 and Mk 2

After weighing it up for size, I decided to fit it with the terminal posts at the rear, ie the other way round to the standard one. This means you can still use the standard clamp without fouling the "hot" battery lead....call me paranoid, but I had visions of it wearing through the insulation to the copper cable!

The leads fit nicely without stretching, and the clamps both fitted the new posts nicely.....see following pics for info.

As can be seen, the cloth shaped cover still fits too..
