Ignition Timing / Fault Codes
Before you start, turn off all electrical accessories in the car. You need a timing light and a bare metal paper clip to do the job.
Flip open the Diagnosis connector on the left hand side of the engine compartment. Inside the cover, you will see the legend to all the connections. Unfold the paper clip and connect the TEN and GND connections. Connect the timing light according to its manual and start the engine.
Aim the timing light at the crankshaft pulley and note the position of the timing mark relative to the scale on the cover. If not aligned to your liking (or the 10 degrees plus or minus 1 degree BTDC as recommended by the workshop manual), loosen the crank angle sensor adjustment bolt at the back of the right-hand hump of the cam cover with a 12mm wrench. Turn the sensor until the timing marks are aligned and then retighten the bolt. Disconnect the paper clip, timing light and you now have a more powerful Eunos (if timing is set at 14 or 18 degrees BTDC)!
