Some experiments with unusual timbers

Before the onset of this past winter I had the good fortune to have access to some freshly cut timber, which, it occurred to me, might be suitable for shafts, even though they lacked the recommendation of the usual authorities. Nevertheless, inspired by the thought that there is at least one decent archer making arrows from nothing more than B & Q warehouse 1/4" dowelling, and driven by a little curiosity, I thought I'd have a go at making an arrow from the rawest materials.
