| This web site
recalls the restoration of Carrog station by "The Friends of Carrog" and is
a tribute to their hard work and dedication. We hope this will also give you an insight
into what is going on at Carrog station today and what we still have to do to
complete this task. Latest updates include "Recent news update"... plus a link to the 2001 transport extravaganza page.

On May 2nd 1996, Carrog station re-opened to passengers
after being closed for 31 years. Faithfully restored by volunteers back to its former
1950's glory, it is the perfect example of a GWR country branch- line station. Here you
will be guaranteed a refreshing cuppa and hot snacks in the tea room, all in fine GWR
style. At present it is the terminus until we extend to Corwen, so come along and relive those Great Western days on a branch
line. The annual transport extravaganza is held in the
fields at the back of the station and Santa visits us every Xmas. Situated 3/4 mile from
the station is the peaceful village of Carrog,(Take
the Carrog trail here) your time will be well spent strolling up to the local Inn, or
having a picnic by the river Dee. Parking at Llangollen can be a problem during the summer
months so why not begin your journey here using our own large car park. There is
also a campsite opposite the station. Parts of this site are still under
construction . |

| I In the sidings at Carrog is the 5199 shop (G.U.V.) run by Mr. & Mrs. McGuinness who are busy raising funds for the restoration of the GWR 2-6-2 Prairie Tank engine which is hoped to be running by 2002. Any saleable items of railway or general interest are very gratefully received, and some fine second hand bargains can be bought. The shop is open most weekends throughout the year. |
ллClick left to download a very interesting hand-drawn layout of the station, although just under 600kb in size, we think it is well worth the download time. You will appreciate the attention to detail and the effort that the artist Sam Denley has made to make this a special map. |
