The view from Lyme towards Charmouth and Golden Cap. It is possible to walk along the beach here when the tide is low enough. Below Black Ven I have found a number of ichthyosaur remains - vertebrae and part of a paddle. Try looking around and under the boulders on the beach.

Looking East from Charmouth towards Stonebarrow cliffs and Golden Cap -  - the highest point on the South Coast of England. Excellent for pyritised ammonites after a winter storm.

Again you can walk along the beach here when the tide is low, all the way to Seatown or up the cliff at St Gabriel’s Mouth.

Another view of Stonebarrow and Golden Cap. A nice round trip walk when the tide is low is to park at the NT car park near the summit of Golden Cap, go down to St Gabriel’s Mouth then along the beach to Seatown and back up to Golden Cap. It doesn’t look as if you can get down to the beach at St Gabriel’s Mouth, but trust me you can!

Its a slog to the top of Golden Cap but the view is wonderful on a clear day. The summit is 626 feet (190 metres) above sea level.

Looking back from Seatown towards Golden Cap. Good place for a pub stop. You’ve deserved it!

The view from Thorncombe Beacon, west of Seatown, towards West Bay.

Not far to go from here.
