A view along the whole of the Fleet, a brackish lagoon sheltered by the Chesil Beach, from above Abbotsbury with Portland in the distance. The point where I took this photo is not on the path but above Abbotsbury on the road towards Bridport.   There is an alternative inland route to this section, running from W Bexington to Osmington Mills east of Weymouth but I have not described it here.

At Abbotsbury there is an ancient swannery and a 15th century tithe barn.

Further along the Fleet. Near to Tidmoor Point below the Army Firing Range, where in winter you can find some excellent pyritised ammonites. Of course, only if the range is not in use that is.

East Fleet, nearing the outlet into Portland harbour at Ferrybridge.

Abbotsbury Oysters are at Ferrybridge - a good place to stop if you like seafood.

Sandsfoot Castle in Weymouth built in Henry VIII’s time in 1539, looking towards Portland.
