Sisters

As children we were always moving house, sometimes far afield. I came to England as a student and didn’t see my family for a long time. Then my sister had her unexpected third baby and I started crossing the ocean every year to see her. The new baby seemed miraculous and brought up memories of our own childhood.

Porches frame stories in the way classical porticos sometimes do in Renaissance paintings. I use the evocative setting of the front porch and Key West gardens to make a sequence suggesting our story. 1990-1991
