August 2002
On the canal with the Reed Family.

( An illustrated account of that holiday. )

Thursday 15th August. Time - 7 hours Locks 7 Miles 15

7.00 a.m. Moved off after trouble getting the stakes out, good firm banks and no passing boats to loosen the stakes! Only three boats had passed us since we moored.

A beautiful cool morning with the sun rising through the mist.

Worked Buscot lock at 8.00 a.m. so no lock keeper up, but did not have to empty or close it as workmen said they would be using in.

Also went through St. John's lock before the keeper was up.

9.15 a.m. Arrived at head of navigation, by the Round House, winded and stopped for breakfast.

9.45 a.m. Extracted Cropredy from under the willows and went back to Lechlade.

10.00 a.m. Moored up immediately after Ha'Penny Bridge. I restocked the larder and did a big clean up before a fish and chips lunch, family explored Lechlade and posted our cards.

1.30 p.m. Set off again, now very hot.

Passed Ownerships Chauldern on the move.

6.00 p.m. Moored for the night right out in the country between Tadpole and Tenfoot Bridge.

Go on to the next day.
