Sunday August 12th.

7.00 Moved off on my own and single handed went up Cape Locks with no one else in sight.

8.00 Moored at top of Cape Locks to tidy up and as heavy rain just starting.

8.30 Moved on, me in full wet gear as raining very heavily, joined by Angela as we started up Hatton locks on our own.

9.15 Moored in the pound after the second lock as the rain was getting heavier!!

10.30 All Wet gear had been dried out on the radiators, a boat came down leaving the locks in our favour, the rain stopped and another boat started up. All in our favour so we resumed Hatton Locks. We worked up with David and Margaret King of Market Harbourer in their boat 'Duchess' with his sister and brother in law. We worked the all the way up Hatton Locks with them, Angela steering and myself and our David working locks. Very little other traffic around.

1.00 Moored at Hatton Water Point for Water and then moved just off it for lunch.

2.30 On up the Grand Union to Lapworth then onto the linking branch.

4.15 Moored up just before the Stratford Canal proper. The family went off exploring while I started dinner cooking.

5.00 Decided to start down the Stratford canal. Finding it quiet from boats but soon getting very noisy from the motorway, but when that eased the banks were too shallow to allow us to moor.

7.15 Moored up on the end of the lock moorings before lock 30 at Lowson with three others boats as no where to moor before, and nothing vacant below either.

Miles 14 Locks 32 Time 7.25 hours.
