7.45 A later start
as tired after yesterday, as I arrived at lock 31 found chaos on the water point
below, centred around Newdigate, J.R. & M.E. Froth's motor loaded with coal,
which was waiting to get into the wharf to load later, while other boats were
watering and waiting for the lock. I added to the chaos as I wanted to buy coal.
So I went past to let a boat come up into the lock, then backed up to lie alongside
Newdigate to buy three sacks of coal to transfer them and gossip for a few minutes.
I then carried on down and straight into lock 32 as a boat was just coming out.
9.15 Moored up just below lock 32 for breakfast and to tidy up.
9.45 Carried on down the Stratford right out in the countryside now.
12.15 Moored at Wooton Wawen directly opposite the Anglo Welsh base for lunch and then the family looked around the village finding a lovely farm shop and garden furniture centre that Angela wants to return to with the car and trailer.
2.00 Continued on down the Stratford intending to moor at the top of Wilmcote Locks but finding the banks to high and the canal too shallow! So went down the first three of the flight.
5.00 Moored up in the pound between locks 42 and 43 in the flight.
