Off at 7.00 a.m. cold and damp after the heat of yesterday, but no rain. Arrived at Foxton at 8.10 a.m. and in straight away as second boat. Again Angela steering, myself and the children worked the locks, up to the top by 9.15 a.m. where we moored for water and the family walked back down the locks for milk. Last time we did this there was a cloud burst as we arrived, today the sun came out for us.
Moved on at 10.15 At B 47 passed N. Kilworth Day boat under erratic control, it hit both banks and both sides of the bridge before the only adult aboad took over to pass me. We then moored up at B 46 at 12.00 and walked up into Husband Bosworth for stores and found the Bull very child friendly under its new landlady. After a good meal and three pints of Marston we returned to the boat and set off again at 2.30.
The family then walked for a while around B 34 but I only had to wait five minutes for them to catch up. I then met an Ian Goodle Narrowboat under a bridge on the wrong side of the canal, I slowed but we hit, but without damage, I recovered but they ended up firmly aground shouting their apologies. Just after B 30 there is a new dual lane carriageway which sheds its noise for quite a distance both sides.
We moored up at 6.00p.m. just after B24 in the quiet, a combine busy just before the Bridge, still working at 10 when we went to bed.
