Off at 6.45 a.m, passed BW dredger and mud flat at B 52 working on the banks. Then arrived at Foxton at 8.15 straight in, two boats in front going down no one waiting either end. Angela steered again I worked the locks with the children and dog. Moored up at the bottom at 9.30 for water. Used the point just after B 62 which had just being repaired so we stayed here till 10.15 then we headed towards Leicester.

Winded twice at Kibworth top lock! Proved that we could just, by virtue of the bows in a reed patch turn a 50 ft boat at the top of the lock. Then we decided to go on further, so I re winded the boat! All the family busy inside cooking, just the dog came out and fell into the canal again! We then had to moor above the second lock for 15 minutes while a BW lock keeper let water down due to a low pound lower down. Then we carried on. The Two mile pound was worth going down, very beautiful and full of rushes!
We moored at 2.30 above Newton Lock for a very late lunch and to walk around the village. The guide praises it, but we did not find it anything special.
Setting off at 3.45 we then had to go down two locks to wind at the winding hole by B 81, then back up the same two. We had thought of mooring in the two mile pound but the moorings were not brilliant and I was afraid of low water levels causing delays in the Kibworth locks in the morning so Angela gave the children a cooked tea while I worked the five broad locks on my own with no problems. Then at 7.00 p.m. we moored for the night just above the top lock.
