Slider Editor

The slider area contains up to 192 sliders, with the following information:

  • The slider itself showing the level. You can left-click or drag within the slider to alter it, or right-click to flash it.

  • A slider label showing the slider’s channel number and acting as a selection button.

  • A slider name showing the use of lights associated with the channel.

  • A value label giving the slider’s value as a percentage (0-FF) or DMX value(0-255).

Sliders have various attributes which can be set and saved as part of your production, by using the Slider Editor tool.

  • 'Name' is the string which appears in the slider.

  • 'Colour' is the colour of the slider.

  • 'Snap' allows you to indicate to PCStage that the slider should jump to its final value at the beginning (pre-fade) or end (post-fade) of crossfades rather than fading smoothly. This is useful for robotic devices and other equipment which is designed for discrete fixed positions rather than fading.

  • 'Control' determines whether the slider can be controlled by crossfades and cue/preset loads (Auto), user movement of the slider only (Manual) or cannot be changed at all (Locked). This allows you to manually control aspects of your lighting in complete isolation from your cues, and ensure that critical channels (e.g. those used for special effects) are never changed accidentally. The levels of manual and locked sliders are saved with the production and restored when the production is loaded.

  • 'Scale' determines whether the slider’s value is shown using Percent or Actual scaling.
