The PCStage production is based on the concepts of
presets
and
cues
.
A
preset
is simply a snapshot of the state of all lighting channels.
A
cue
refers to a preset and adds fade timing, audio activation and other information about its behaviour within the production.
Presets
Presets are the basic components of a PCStage production. A preset defines a value for each slider. Presets may be locked, which prevents editing or deletion by the user; an ‘L’ in the Flags column indicates this. Each preset must have a unique name. A preset is said to be loaded when the sliders are set to its stored values, and saved when the current slider levels are copied to the preset.
The Preset List will enable you to store and control a large number of lighting states (limited only by your hard drive size) and combined with the cue sheet facility, gives unique control over any production.
The Blackout preset (all sliders off) is always present, and is reserved - it cannot be unlocked, and hence never edited or deleted. It is always loaded when a production is loaded or on commencement of new production as the initial cue refers to it.
One preset is always defined as the Panic preset; this preset is loaded immediately if the PANIC! Button is clicked. By default this is the Blackout preset, but any preset can be used. The panic preset is indicated by a ‘P’ in the flags column. The panic preset is provided to set on-stage lighting to a known safe state should something go seriously wrong with your production or an emergency arise.
