Evening Star 11 (11-002) Update:
Pop Factory Music Awards 002 took place 22-11-002 (televised 29-11-002 on ITV1 Wales).

An essential cog in the 21st century punks wheel, since 1999 Pop Factory has been part of The Friend network, playing a big part in the turn of the century soundtrack. It's unfair as f*** that it's not shown all over LaLaLand mind.

Filmed in a disused lemonade factory (natch!) near Cardiff, it does what it says on the label and there has a fan club of bands that will sing the praises of it's foresight.

The first Welsh Music Event to be televised is also the show with the best regional music programme reputation. Tidy!

A phan daw troead y rhôd, daw y tylwyth teg i ddawnsio eto /
and with the turn of the wheel, the fairies will come to dance again
from  "Blerwytirhwng?" (SFA)

"Tune in your radios and turn on your TV’s and you could be forgiven for think that Welsh mainstream rock amounts to three words: Manic Street Preachers... "We questioned a number of people regarding their views on the Welshness of bands including the Manics. Simon Williams, of Bangor, said: "I believe Super Furries are very Welsh still, but the Manics, I don’t think they care." John Seale of Colwyn Bay said: "If I heard the Manics on the radio I wouldn’t really have know they were Welsh."
(from a piece on Welsh music by Richard Nash/Simon Dobbs,
Bangor & Anglesey Mail, 25 March 1998).

"These days, the anthems of our country are not Dacw mam yn dwad, Sosban, Fach, Mi welais Jac y do and Fuoch chi erioed yn morio?. Those that both of us now associate with Wales are, A design for life, If you don’t want me to destroy you and More life in a tramps vest..." "...the next time someone asks you, what makes you proud to be Welsh, simply say the main reason is due to those wonderful music makers, the Manic Street Preachers. And try not to gloat!"
(from a piece on Welsh music by Caryl Hugues/Lowri Owen,
Bangor & Anglesey Mail, 25 March 1998).
"It was in Britain - among the English, Scottish, Welsh and Irish people of that land - that I learned that the essential character of a nation is determined not by the upper classes, but by the common people and that the common people of all nations are truly brothers in the great family of mankind" (Paul Robeson)

The Let Paul Robeson Sing exhibition that was staged at Cardiff early 001 opened at the Theatre Museum in London on October 3 001 for a year
