| "Today Deptford,
Tomorrow The World" read Brian Hibbert's
t-shirt when The Flying
Pickets were on Top
Of The Pops in the 80s. In the 90s, he appeared in the cult classic movie Twin
Town. Local connections far from aside, also in the movie was Rhys Ifans (unforgettable
as Spike in Notting Hill with Julia Roberts and
Hugh Grant) who has also lived in Rocklands (Sanford
Co-Op to be precise) and was still biging up Nu-X and Deptford
quite recently. i bumped into him (with danny from supergrass, they were dressed as
space men, of course!) Some of Twin Town was filmed in Briton
Ferery which local members (living at Sanford Co-Op) of Unemployable
Welsh Scum DJs/Ten Benson/House Of Rock posse hail from. Today, Rocklands and Briton Ferry, tomorrow, the
world! The

"There's a real
community down here, it's really laid back, it's like the good parts of London with the
good parts of not being in London" as cover stars of Logo magazine, Athlete spread
the word about Deptford. Signed to a top label on the LaLaLand vibe

look out for them in 003! http://www.athlete.mu/

pints in The Hobgoblin Pub on Nu-X Road and suddenly you see fairies fly
past. Don't worry your not dreaming - it's just local punk princesses The Fairies Band.
I've seen them twice at Punk City hangout London Callin

you thought you saw them on Good Morning TV on the sofa with Darius then
you weren't dreaming then, and if you've checked out the pix of them with Neil and
Christine Hamilton at their site, you were probably having a nightmare! www.thefairiesband.co.uk * Rocklands Star article * 21c Punx
