-
send your additions and recommendations

There are absolutely loads of fantastic eateries in Rocklands and the prices are top quality. None of yer mingy helpings, either! Food from all over the world in one compact area. Here are just a few of the especially recommended!

Cummin' Up: Established 1991, excellent taste without expense, Cummin' Up has proved to be the most consistent chain of Caribbean food outlets in the catering arena. 265e NU X Rd SE14 (next to Nu-X-G8 station) t:020 8694 1745 e:cummin.up@virgin.net also branches in SE13, SE26, SE23. Visit the website for catering service, menus, locations, further info www.blacknet.co.uk/cummin-up

Jazz At The Cross isn't just about great music, make a proper night out of it by getting your food from Hilda’s Hope and Love Kitchen.Excellent catering of acclaim, check it out. 369 Queens Rd, Nu-X, SE14 (behind Hatcham Liberal Club) more info http://www.jazzatthecross.com

Moonbow Jakes Cafe (next door to Iceland between New Cross and New Cross stations) "been around since july 1998.  we have some open mic nights and poetry and creative writing nights coming up" 275 New Cross Road, SE14 6AS - 020 8694 6525 http://www.moonbowjakes.com

A House Of Rock fave eatery is Noodle King on Deptford Broadway (by Deptford Bridge, DLR) Noodle house; great food, loads of it, loads of taste, affordable.

Hattie Chewed and Smoocher going on a date...Tony's cafe, 399 Nu X Rd, SE14 (on way to Nu-X-G8 from Nu X station). If you consider yourself a true chips lover, then Tony's Cafe is worth travelling for. No sign over the door, but a warm and friendly atmosphere and top nosh inside. In the days when Top Of The Pops was exciting, these are the sort of chips they were eating. None of that "fries" rubbish, and not pale flabby stubs of potato either. No, these are REAL CHIPS. Not frozen, freshly hand cut and double fried to tanned brown perfection - the best in LaLaLand. Quite possibly the most tasty chips of the 21st century. The sort of cuisine that attracts ardent fans that are known by name to the folks that work there...

Use Your Loaf - 227 Deptford High Street, SE8 - Every Friday from 7pm - cheap veggie food cafe with food, drink a chance to hang out, meet people, watch videos. Really lovely space and chilled out vibe. (buses 188, 199, 47, 225, 53, 177, trains Deptford, Deptford Bridge, New Cross) Hotline: 07984 588807 More on Use Your Loaf centre for social solidarity at Rocklands Local Charm page.
