This year corporation:blend have started to pick up a
bit of profile following a rave review of their previous demo at www.rockfeedback.com - Toby L has been a
convert since The Metro - and that wasn't even the band at their best.
Another happy audience member was John Earls of Teletext
who gave them 8/10 and wrote "does the world need more
pretty young men snarling their way through tales of sleaze and regret? Probably jot but
it would be a hell of a more fun place if some record company did the obvious and signed
the gloriously uncool glamsters. Singer, Robert Owen, slices his finger open on his
guitar. "Better play a faster one" he tuts. Hurrah all round!"
corporation:blend have been keeping themselves
busy as fug since that gig. A week later, they were on top form for the show at The
Basement Club a week later. Thanks to Toby L and Gordon Raphael they found
themselves on a one-off hand picked bill playing one of the hottest coolest rock clubs in
town (always packed, movin and shakin) and got on so well with another highlight of the
night's bill, Accelerator, that hopefully the two bands can get together
soonish and play some gigs! Both were also recently featured in a BBC Radio 6
Music feature on Invisible Superstars due to the impact they
made at this show.
"I have seen
some achingly brilliant bands this year who are all about live energy, excitement, and
total performance. So, why can't these bands get arrested in the music press?
When a band can't be pigeonholed easily, they are
kept at bay in favour of something that fits in a snug little box that can be labelled and
sold to a "niche" market. These Invisible Superstars are unique and not easy to
categorise. We are all intelligent music fans with diverse tastes, so how can we ever find
out what we are missing? Spread the word!" (Eileen Cecere)
since then --(c:b)-- have been writing and rehearsing new material and thanks to the support of
some music loving international rock stars will be able to record something to release in
spring, together with some dates around the country. The support of their fans has been a
great boost, they are always spreading the word!
The demo of "she's
nothing special", "contradiction" and
"blew it" was recorded very raw and very live - full of blend energy, an idea of what
makes their gigs adddictive. it got new fans, further industry interest and even pricked
up some ears at national radio, so fingers crossed for the new recording session. The band
sold a limited amount and gave it away to people on their mailing list at The Metro.
There's loads more to this band than meets the eye, well, just surf
to Brad's website for a start -
talk about a beat sensation...
--(c:b)-- are
setting up new gigs at the moment and have started receiving offers of tour dates from
around the country on the strength of the new demo. They're always looking for a chance to
play live, so get in touch if
you need a legendary 21st century punk band!
