Alternative Rock Idol? Read the Music Tourist Board Alternative Rock Idol page to check out the pool of talent we dipped into. Gig attending music fans made these initial live events happen. It was an experiment which put faith in the power of music to the test...
click here for the poster/flyer of the bands, djs and their friends that made this event happen.

The initial basic information was sent out with listings information...
Music Tourist Board presents Alternative Rock Idol - October 003 to March 004, BritainIreland - hotly tipped and highly recommended acts to check out. The aim is to highlight promising, interesting and exciting talent, adding that extra boost of help.
Alternative Rock Idols’ own music self-markets, they have talent, tunes, style, self expression, heart, soul and individuality. They get fans. Of “Pop Idol” potential (but with their own quality music, more like Mobo Unsung). Some prime examples to look out for (not in 2004, but NOW)
8pm-11pm = £3 / £5 after 11pm, DJs until 2am - Pop Of The Tops, The Paradise Bar, 460 New Cross Road, London SE14 6TJ 020 8692 1530 - It will be a fun musical experience ...filmed, photographed, decorated and hopefully most of all, enjoyed.
South East X leg... music fans (mostly musicians) got together to present legendary entertainment in the tuesday rock’n’roll hangout on another planet. Music Tourist Board is part of the penniless revolution alternative music industry. Shared and helped each other, music life style. With no money exchanged (or available!!!) to set this up and promote it, we got quality new bands to give music fans a wonderful AND affordable night out. Some are among the many great groups we’ve seen here since april that lit up the lighty-up stage. Others we just asked and they said yes, bless them and some people just arrived by magic. All come recommended. With so many people skint these days (housing at six times it’s cost, £ = 27th letter of the alphabet) it’s cheap as chips event, 21st century diy punk disco.
A big thanks to our guest DJs for giving fresh talent a helpiing hand. Also have picture exhibition, visuals, cheap booze (happy hour until 9pm, + beer etc £1 a bottle while stocks last!), games and friendly company to make a party.
Great new bands and loadsa lovely people. its a celebration of music at a time when laws are trying to slip in to try and stop these kind of events (well, on Planet Earth anyway). Friends; * dress up * come down * join in * rock out...
...ah, but would anybody respond, let alone brave coming a whole six miles from Central London to a part of the city that is Totally UN-London!(?)

The Crowd, cool as ice rising local stars of the mod scene and Pop Of The Tops faves, headlined the first show. Pic by Nicola Probert who also exhibited at South East X.

3 cheers for Ludes who took time out of their increasingly busy schedule to make it along to Nu X and join the fun. DJ Mark Morriss said he was looking forward to spinning "the platters that matter". The Bluetones are a national pop treasure. It was an honour. What a gent and total sweetheart to boot!
