LaLaLand
is twinned with Ireland and Britain on Planet Earth (mostly harmful) but inspired by the
music world, on a parallel dimension (Planet Water -
mostly harmless) where Irie Land, The Big Country, The
Land Of Song and Bling Bling Blighty are united. LaLaLand
is proudly promoted by The Rocklands Tourist Board
- please send along info on any individuals or organisations on the vibe for
inclusion.
Rock and Roll has
so affected this part of the world that punk hairstyles are an every day sight (even on
World Cup football pitches) as are tattoos and piercings, Liverpool has John
Lennon Airport, politics has a Monster Raving Loony Party and
the Sense-Us contains Jedi Knights. (and The LaLaLand
House Of Commons is something else!)
Even London's
Royal Family tourist attraction hosted a pop party for their jubilee (including a
guitarist on the roof of the palace) and showed the world what LaLaLand
uses explosives for - fireworks, joy bringing, of course!
From Spring to
Autumn, the temperate weather allows for much outdoor activity, including a music event of
some description EVERY SINGLE WEEK somewhere. Not only that, there are thousands of live
entertainments taking place all year and the islands are small enough to travel to many of
them.
Every month there
are no end of music awards, showcasing the wealth of talent across the spectrum of music
and tuning into BBC Radio 1 for 24 hours is a peek into a pop crazy nation.
Music has fused
over the last 50 years, and like their music so have many of the 21st century citizens of
the rock'n'roll isles - all manner of cultures, faiths, races, classes etc. Music itself
has no class, age, race, sexual persuasion, size, shape etc and neither do music lovers. LaLaLand
is heavily populated by these people, The Playing Class.
Song lift spirits
during war and slavery, peace and freedom. Love, peace, unity, charity, justice, human
rights and freedom remain a strong hope of the majority. A simple, contented life remains
the dream for most of the human family. The music world is largely on this vibe.
Nature's children
blossomed in the 60s and by the punky reggae glam party of the 70s, alternative, fringe
and fanzine culture were set in stone. In the 80s greed and celebrity became one path to
take, tainting the world with a money and military mindset. The other path continued on
nature's path, the root of all love. Music is nature's communication with it's guardians.
We already have
tourist boards to promote the culture of Britain and Ireland but surely at this point in
history it can be accepted that there is more than one vision of culture? Pop Idol is an
export success story that says just as much about us as our other great ambassadors
Charity and (sporting) Sport.
Researching this
initiative, friends from LaLaLand and abroad were interested in
affordability, record shops, live music events, groovy clothing, cute/weird unique things,
natural beauty, alternative lifestyles and in Bling Bling Blighty alone
The Eden Project, Stonehenge, Glastonbury and Portmeirion, let alone the beauty of the
entire singing dancing nation of LaLaLand.
Music is a
therapy, the food of love, soul food, opiate of the masses and the effect is right under
our noses. Music is often an employer with 21st century vision (mostly CV-free with jobs
inventing themselves). Good news can be news too. Glam not glum - get celebrating!
