: ace adventure last night. The idea had been to go shopping up Camden, have a drink, then
go to the Monarch.
The drink happened first and so stopped the retail therapy happening, but the Rock
N Roll was excellent. Hotwires then Girl Scouts then The
Duvals rocking Camden Barfly with 21st century punk sounds and attitude.
I'd recommend them all to anybody who could be arsed to check out new talent on the
word-of-mouth buzz. I love the Girl Scouts song "Get Out Of
My Face" but they had disappeared with the CDs by the end of the night so if
anybody reading this knows em, tell em to get in touch. They're Rocklands locals
anyway, so it won't take long to find them.
Had a great laugh with me mate Rosie Rock and the House Of
Rock massive and got a lovely surprise to see Lucy The Song who
had comne down from Manchester for The Duvals (who played one of the
liveliest shows - with their audience - that I've seen at that venue). If that's
"uncool", I'm all for it!
The only downer was the band getting into trouble for keeping the staff from their
pizzas for a whole 20 minutes before fucking off hone. When The Duvals play,
whoever is around becomes the road crew, I don't think they got the "many hands light
work" ethic either. Still couldn't spoil the Duvals experience.
Recommend checking out KBY rock night at The Monarch.
Buzzing from the energy of last night we spent today putting the world to right. Rock
and Roll really can save the world and we're going to prove it! Having been Remy
Zero fans for a while, too, we were also chuffed as fuck at the new album "The
Golden Hum" (scroll down for more on RZ who look set to
become "cool" this year). |

Star 3 2001 :  Cuba. A year on from Karl
Marx Theatre - a peace mission that actually worked. Sympathy with it on Planet Water. Like despair to
wear (anti fashion - stage style/street style) said
then, Cuba was an alternative style statement of 001 - even Victoria Beckham is sporting
it as fashion in 002. the friend checked
out more on the rising 21st century Punk scene... In the "Bad
Music?" article Jo Finlay stood up for Marilyn Manson and Eminem
and a few months later both acts headlined Reading and Leeds Festival alongside Manic
Street Preachers... |
