FROM DESPAIR TO WEAR piss on fash(ion)ism! it's
hip, it's hop, it's soul, it's pop...
STAGE STYLE ALWAYS THE COOLEST STREET STYLE LOOK LIKE A ROCK STAR? ...YOU ARE A ROCK STAR! "style"
is in the eye of the beholder
|
| Jul 002 : Perfect for gigs is Sanrio
stuff (i.e. Hello Kitty, Bad Batz Maru, Afro Ken, Little Twin Stars etc). Their
tiny travelling stuff and shoulder bags/back packs are ideal for people who travel to see
bands. Of course MSP, Mansun and King Adora fans have
always been sussed about this... Now widely available all over the place and in London
Punk City, oppose Les Miserables is a covent garden stall who travel regularly to Japan to
pick up special stuff for collectors. |
Mar 001: red white and blue, flying the flag!
The establishment media fashion pages wonder whether its the british or the u.s. flag
which will be the fashion statement for 2001? Fuck that, choose your patterned cloth of
choice - Cuba is the choice at Rocklands, flags, Che t-shirts are eternal
rebel chic anyway, so stars n stripes/union jacks lose out to the daydream of a socialist
republic, like the Habana t-shirt worn by our model, Scott... (more
Bluetones at Bluetown and more Cuba at Evening Star 3)p.s. 002 : no fashion magazines picked up on
what was being worn at gigs/clubs (i.e. where street fashion starts) but Posh Beckham in a
"Cuba" sweatshirt said it all and they're everywhere now. |
| Deptford
High Street London, SE8 - indulge your individual sense of style, for cheap,
here! got some great baggy denim jeans here for £2.00 and there are loads of bargains for
d.i.y. style enthusiasts without the extortionate mark up of so called trendy labels. The
markets of London, in general, are brilliant places to get an outfit together to go out
in. (p.s. update March 001 - T-shirts in s/m/l/xl and xxl are £1 each in a
variety of colours - useful for band shirts - on the market. The man said he will
be there every week (his stall was by The Halifax on sat.07. april.) There's a "boot
sale" part of the market in the square by The Albany Empire too. |
