notes from channnel6: the metaphors part 2

southeastenders. pans from map to river, homes in on  boat (it's a themed cruise courtesy of the local tourist board) an evening ride from the south east bank past the finest view of local heritage - history and future.

the metaphors board a catamaran and start their journey. they've been in the area doing a photo session and some interviews earlier, and stayed locally especially, after yesterday's rehearsals.
Deptford Creek, Rocklands
during the boat ride they call their starship and say they're on their way. the river ride ends at embankment. {clips of legendary river journeys at certain points}.
They wait for the starship captain to take them to an intimate venue for a webcast. there, they will rock.

for music fans its a quality night out at a bargain basement price - good music from start to finish and highly recommended by the tourist board.

the metaphors travel to the gig rock n roll day dream stylee. mostly for fun but partly for the TV effect. Living in a parallel dimension of real life.

the tourist board run three catamarans, love, peace and music at 20 minute intervals up and down the river in safe weather. these uniquely themed boats are communal relaxation therapy and popular on summer evenings. it's quality time at ease, feeling a part of nature which is necessary for self-balance. the perfect start to the live experience.

the metaphors give as many friends from the locality that want to come to the gig, a lift to embankment if they want one. [band, their posse and the tv crew can stop for a light bite/freshen up around embankment/charing cross] There's a double decker bus to the club from charin'x and it's allowed specially to pull in front of the station for "cinematic effect" as the head of filming put it. but can wait there for no more than six minutes.
from there's it's the bus, tube - (charin'x - h&i, change@oxford st) or the starship charin'x - venu via trafalgar square etc for tv crew. the journalist and camerabod are in the starship with the band, but at first adding to pre-gig nerves very slightly. . they will film at tonight's gig and meet up again some time after the show. it'll be a day to be enjoyed, on a natural high and at ease, then an evening to be enjoyed, at serious play, to both live and remember with a smile. the bus drops people off near food, drink and bogs
"real life is what you make it" said hattie from   the tourist board as she showed  souvenirs of the   metaphors in the tourist board's souvenirs & tea-shoppe to the journalist. they sipped herbal tea.
"music is real life" said smoocher sipping a tingler in the sanrio-themed tea shoppe. both agree that the metaphors are, like other local woodland folk, playing class and proud of it.
that night, the gig is legendary. great  tunes, a wild performance and party atmosphere. the laid back hysterical happiness natural high of communal live music enjoyment.
tomorrow they play in the wild west of punk city; naffbush, home of legends and the legendary. the day after that their debut  album is released. today has been a sort of day off after six days of the monthly week's filming to be screened next friday.
the band will be photographed and filmed occasionally over the next month then the third set up will be them headlining a local festival and after that, responsibility is handed over to their amount of talent and the support, help and belief they get. the footage is the basis with another week of filming up to and on the day of the festival.

once the filming is over the band vow that they'll have animations of themselves in all their videos. that way they can daydream the videos, spend less time filming and more time making music. at least they've done it, surreal and enjoyable it was too. the tv crew have been as unobtrusive as they promised and new friendships have been made off camera.

channnel6 are said to be very happy with the footage, parts of which will also be used in the tourist board's information video and there will be a dvd/cd next year. a share of profits made by the band and tourist board go to the local community fund and as ever, a share of expertise and enthusiasm will promote good bands - this rockumentary started off as a two fingered wind up for rock and roll but turned into an unusual but rewarding experience as the fuck-off rock n roll band in the fakeness of a reality tv setting is mainly a vehicle for classic songs in the tradition of musicals.
they have faith in a respected career for the metaphors and are staking both their own  reputation and that of the band on it this slightly ludicrous idea. it's paid off as they band have good karma as well as great songs.

the suggestions bureau had sought a charismatic band with a genuine fan-base who are excited by their songs and performances. if even one person could feel like that over unexposed nobodies then more than one could with some profile.
the metaphors were perfect, their lives wasn't ideal, they just wanted to make and play music, but when they recorded and performed, the magic was there. the show offered a way of doing that. after the screening of the first show, they'd released an ep which had made the top 75 but continued to sell until they made the top 20. in this time though, they had played abroad and done honeymoon period media for the second show.
tonight's programme would turn some people against them. it was so uncool, so desperate, so embarassing and cheesy to the eyes of a cynic. that's what had first appealed to the twisted humour of the metaphors about a rock idols style programme. and made them finally decide to do it. they could appal fashion with passion and gain appreciation of their music while having fantasy adventures like they'd seen on channnel6's rock and roll planet which showed music films, videos and tv that just had to be seen.
next month the rockumentary on the metaphors was over, their music would have to be the coolest thing about them from then on. for tonight they're going the whole uncool hog and hosting a party on the boat home to toast the show and the LP. they may never get the chance again and having done it, could become the biggest band in the world and never even get the inclination again.
