Bluetones go for a gold hat trick... The Bluetones
started rehearsing songs for their third album for Superior Quality Recordings on May 3rd.
They started at the TV-famed WestHeath Yard Studios.
They played an impromptu gig
in May - in the wilds of the Lake District. They were at the birthday of Paul
"Chumpy" Knowles (production manager) in Monroes Bar, Workington, Cumbria. The
set included cover versions of Dennis Waterman's theme from Minder "I Could Be So
Good For You", Britney Spears'; "One More Time" and "Psychotic
Reaction by The Count Five. They also played three new Bluetones'; songs, aired at their
sellout Astoria show "Blood Bubble", "It's A Boy" and "Tiger
Lilly" as well as old tones faves like "Are You Blue Or Are You Blind?". A
top night was had by all.
Due to their recording
commitments, The Bluetones are are not scheculed for Summer 1999 festival appearances, but
as usual fans can keep in touch with any news via their mailing list and their websitefor
information from the horses mouth.
They have now moved studio to
Cornwall and started recording their third album in earnest. They will take a break in
September to play the Purple Festival in Spain and warm up with small venue shows at
Portsmouth Wedgewood Rooms and Leeds Cockpit. |
