(1/4 ) My tree-house abode is in a
provincial riverside settlement on Planet Water.
The settlement is in the south east of Punk City, capital
of Bling Bling Blighty, La La Land.
I have lived in this area, Rocklands for many a year. It
has a unique charm all of it's own.
(pic... Nu X Road, Rocklands, South East Punk City).

La La Land is a small group of islands in Northern
Europa;- Irieland, The Big Country, The Land Of Song, Bling Bling Blighty and various
smaller surrounding isles.
La La Lands national pastimes are
music, sports, arts and all kinds of hobbies as eccentric as many individuals of these
parts. With so many of the population involved in or obsessed by music, alternative and
fringe culture, rock and roll tourism is a thriving industry. The Post Office are printing
punk collection stamps this year, I like the Sex Pistols queen, the headless iron lady and
May Day Winston ones best myself.
Like Jamaica, La La Land is a small big player in a big
world. Punk City is to music what Hollywood is to film. Everybody wants to make it here.
Elvis never played here, he is The king for some. My king would be Bob Marley, as his
songs are internationally sung along to as well. In La La Land you choose your own heroes.
I love the music life and living in Punk City. We live on
the South Bank of its main river. The area is steeped in creativity and history. It
has a magic atmosphere as its one of the places on the planet where unity was born.
A 20th century vibe with 21st century technology, it is a
unique human nature reserve. An oddly provincial corner of a bustling city.
La La Lands rocknroll tourism board is
based here, on the Creek that remains reserved for common people. The area is also one of
the greenest boroughs of the city but also boasts a wealth of venues and events.
We also have ringside seats of the growing Gotham City
like structures of Docklands growing across the river from our settlement of Rocklands.
Our settlement learnt positive ideas from the richness of
life and visual stimulation to be found at carnivals and festivals. Inspired by
Portmeirion, Havana and Christiania. We have many local creatives and an international
melting pot of common people. The rewards of balanced living are greater than money can
buy.
Housing is easily affordable (what kind of idiot imagines
"luxury" is of any use when so many are homeless?). Homes are not mistaken for
stocks and shares on Planet Water. Basic is key.
As living doesnt cost so much that it ruins life, I
am able to share my job with another single person and still be able to afford some treats
and luxuries in life. It has also meant that I am able to avoid credit like the thieving
plague that it is.
I work the 4-day weekend plan (i.e. Tuesday to Thursday)
and Frugal Dougal works from Friday to Monday for 4/7 of our weekly wage. It suits us both
fine. Im not into money other than as a necessity to trade for things that ARE of
use to human life.
Last weekend I travelled to Stonehenge on my 4-day weekend
- good for the soul that trip was. Its an ancient place of nature worship (a circle,
obviously!). It is through circles and waves that the planet and its component
organisms (i.e. me!) live. It did me good. On Earth, the establishment beat the common
guardians of the planet away from worshipping there. How would they like it if they got
driven away from church at Christmas? Do unto others as you would have them do unto you
say those that wont tolerate others not doing as they do.
Thing is, with such a high percentage of sports, arts,
charity, fringe etc population, the force of nature is strong in La La Land. They have the
freedom for self expression and many of them have the money for technology. Their
importance to the positive culture is appreciated on Planet Water. A local festival held
at Fordham Park gets it right with its banner "You Cant Kill The
Spirit".
Instead of the stress and complication of Planet Earth,
its a relief to step back to Planet Waters ease and simplicity.
Im back at work tomorrow. In the mornings I work at
a local brain storming agency that makes suggestions to various marketing departments. We
also promote the schedules of local based radio, pop-screen and music tv channels. In the
afternoons Im a chef at a local cafe.
An honest days pay for an honest days work
suits me just fine as my ambition is contentment. Many people wouldnt find that much
of an ambition, but the simple life is the best way to appreciate the luxury of being
alive on a paradise planet. On Earth, people will spend fortunes just to relax. I can get
the same effect by practising the sport of couch potato (I am at Olympic gold standard at
this sport).
Ha ha, I live a life richer than lottery winners on Earth
(well, whats left after Scamalot have spent it on themselves and adverts). Im
nobody special either, there are millions just like me world-wide. Only thing is, not all
of us have the great fortune to be able to live a simple, contented life the most
luxurious and balanced of existences.
Love, music, family, friends and the basic human needs for
a simple life. What more do you truly NEED? Im supposedly a loony, but its
necessary for my sanity.
Greetings from the happy life of Planet Water (and to
think that some people laugh when you say that rocknroll can save the world!).
The waves and circles of life are ever at sixes and sevens
with each other and the answer to life, the universe and everything is indeed 42.
As a great man often says, I hope some day youll
join us and the world can live as one.
