Hot Sauce Jazz/Funk Band has been in existence for 10
years, beginning life under the direction of the venerable Bob Peters as
"Sax Machine". The "Machine" became the "Jazz Orchestra" when more
brass-playing students became available. Bob retired in 2000 and the
ensemble was taken over by Larry Johns. Time, and – more importantly –
music, moves on. In 2006 the ensemble became the "Hot Sauce Jazz/Funk band".
The band still plays big band swing, but the repertoire now is predominantly
jazz/funk. Picture below right: Larry Johns (M.D.), Paul Jennings (admin.) and Bob Peters (now admin.) |

The annual tour of France, with the Vienne Jazz Festival as its focal point,
is the main reason for Hot Sauce's existence. The members are (mostly) either students or ex-students of various education establishments in Cornwall. We try to be self-financing, but that is not always possible... |
