Knowledene Holiday Apartments :: 22 - 24 Knowle Avenue Blackpool
Blackpool Illuminations ------------------ Fri 02 Sept 2005 to Sunday 6 Nov 2005 Illuminated tram in front of Uncle Tom's Cabin

Knowledene self-catering flats are ideally situated for viewing the Blackpool Illuminations which are "switched on" in early September and "off" in early November. There are about 5 miles of continuous displays along and to the side of the promenade. The photo opposite shows a tram passing Uncle Tom's Cabin which is near our holiday flats. This is a famous landmark in Blackpool and is reputed to have been established by a negro slave in the 1800s. Originally it was sited at the top of the cliffs. At some stage, the wooden structure fell into the sea and was re-built in its present position across the road from the beach.
