Chelmsford are the 2006 Essex Blitz champions.. This is the first time Chelmsford have won this competition. 11 teams played an all-play-all 5 minute tournament at Wanstead with Chelmsford (31/40) pipping Cavendish (31/40) on tie-break with Barking 3rd on 29. Chelmsford won the tiebreak by the unique method of Cavendish stepping aside because they've won so many times before. We might have won more easily if I hadn't lost on time against Cavendish one move from delivering checkmate. Chelmsford's team were Russell, Nick Gough, David Chandler (10/10 on board 4!) and Robin Slade.

David Chandler and Russell White also carried on their excellent form into the individual Lightning tournament in the afternoon finishing 3rd and 2nd respectively.
