Chelmsford Chess Club is an established chess club that welcomes players of all strengths and ages. Currently, the Club has around 25 full-time members with standards that range from beginner through to county level. The Club is affiliated to the British Chess Federation and the Essex Chess Association, and competes in the North Essex Chess League (NECL) where, it's highly successful 'A' team have been crowned League Champions no less than 6 times over the last 10 years.
In all, Chelmsford fields 4 teams in the North Essex League which provides all members with the opportunity to experience competitive chess. The Club also hosts an annual Club Championship as well as a time-handicapped 'Summer Tournament'. The Club meets on Thursday evenings, officially between the months of September to June, although it usually remains open throughout most of the summer period.
