Chelmsford Chess Club has forged links with
Backnang Chess Club, in Germany
Chelmsford is 'twinned' with the German town of Backnang.
The Chelmsford Town Twinning Association
promotes twinning activities between groups and individuals in the twin
towns of Chelmsford, Backnang and Annonay. Numerous other clubs, organisations,
schools and individuals have successfully set up links with their partners
in one or both of our twin towns.
Chelmsford has been officially 'twinned' with the German town of Backnang, in 1990. The following year, members of Chelmsford Chess Club together with members Writtle Chess Club made their first visit to the German town, which lies 25 miles north east of Stuttgart.
A number of cultural exchanges between the two clubs, have since taken place, with members of both Chess Clubs having played the part of host and visitor.
