Henry VIII
This copper/stipple engraving is the work of John Chapman (click on it to see it enlarged). It was published in London on May 19th 1804 by J Wilkes. It is one of a series of copper/stipple engravings of Kings and Queens of England (of which others are available from K Books).
Evidently not a lot is known about the engraver, Chapman, other than that he appears to have worked in London between about 1770 and 1816.
Beneath each of Chapman's engravings of the Kings and Queens of England there is a small scene that appears to be a pictorial epitaph. Have a look at the one for Henry VIII.
The Henry VIII portrait is sold ready to frame, price £25, dimensions 12 x 10 ins, 30 x 25.5 cms.
