| BEAZLEY | Non-ancestral. Francis BEAZLEY married Lucy ANDREWS 1867 in Kent. They moved to Battersea where they had at least seven children. Francis Beazley was born at Brighton, Sussex; Lucy was born at Mersham, Kent.

| BUNGARD | Non-ancestral here. A relative, Alfred Henry Bungard (1832-91), was in the Surrey police force, he is known to have served at Godstone, Guildford and Chertsey. He had risen to Superintendent by 1880. Alfred was born at Sidlesham in Sussex. I contribute to Graham Bungard's One-Name Study.

| DOWNER | Non-ancestral. Several of the Sussex Downers moved to Lambeth. One was Stephen Downer (1842-95) who married Margaret DAVIES in 1870 and had six children at Lambeth. Stephen was born at Thakeham, Sussex.
|
| STARKINGS | Non-ancestral here. A relative, John Edmund Starkings (1867-?), had several children born at Guildford before moving back to Norfolk. A One-Name Study is in progress.

| WELLS | A maternal great-grandmother, Annie Sophia Wells (1870-1952) was born at Kingston-upon-Thames in 1870. She probably only spent a few months there, her family had moved to Brighton, Sussex by 1872, their whereabouts at the 1871 census have not been discovered. Annie's parents were Thomas and Emma (née WOOD) who married at Croydon in 1869, Thomas was from Sussex.
|
| WOOD | My maternal great-great-great-grandparents James (1811-?) and Ann Wood lived at Croydon in 1851. They both claimed to have been born there but no marriage has been found for them there. Ann's surname might have been JONES which is no help in trying to find their marriage. They had one daughter, Emma (1841-1908), with them in 1851 but she was born at Ware, Hertfordshire. Her birth and/or baptism have not been found in Hertfordshire or Surrey. Emma married Thomas WELLS 1869 at Croydon.

| VALDER | Non-ancestral here, many of the so far unconnected branches moved to the Surrey parts of London. Several branches of my Kent VALDERs spent time in Lambeth and Southwark. My most recent VALDERs are from Sussex.
