Gardening is an enjoyable hobby at all ages.
Polegate is in East Sussex, about 5 miles north of Eastbourne. Polegate Gardeners Society maintain the floral display at the Polegate traffic lights at the junction of the A22 with the road to Jevington.

A Programme of Informative Talks
Four Shows each year - Spring, Early and Late Summer. You will receive a Show Schedule on joining which details all classes at all shows and also contains full details of all activities planned for 2002.
Socials and Outings - Relax with friends at socials and visit interesting places on outings
Membership brings contact with other like-minded people

All Talks and Shows take place at St John's Church Hall at 7.30pm. Talks are usually held on the fourth Thursday of the month, there is a charge of 30p for which you also get refreshments. Outings are usually on Wednesday afternoons.

Shows
Polegate Gardeners Society hosts four Shows each year; three are daytime shows in Spring, Early and Late Summer. The other is an evening Domestic (Cookery) show in July. Full details are in the Show Schedule.
The Spring Show offers classes in Flower, Decorative (Flower Arranging), Domestic (Cookery), Painting, Handicraft and Wine sections. The Early Summer Show has Flower, Decorative (Flower Arranging), Fruit and Vegetable classes. The Late Summer Show offers the same classes as the Early Summer Show with the addition of Photography classes.
All Shows take place at St John's Church Hall, Polegate. Staging from 7.30-11am. Show open 2-4pm, admission 20p for members, 30p for non-members.
Light refreshments are available at Shows. There is a Raffle, a Plant Sales table and also a Bric-a-Brac stall.
Socials and Outings
An American Supper will take place on the 23rd August at St John's Church Hall. Please bring cutlery and some food to share.

Polegate Gardeners Society run a series of coach outings during the spring and summer months. These are usually on Wednesday afternoons and visit Gardens within a few hours drive. They are very popular and usually sell out quickly. The price includes all transport and admission.
Four pick-up points in Polegate allow you to choose which is most suitable for you, they are at:
Bus Stop opposite Levett Road, Old Polegate Station, Bus Stop opposite School Lane and Bus Stop at Threshers Wine Shop.
There are six outings this year:
17th April 1pm. Earnley Indoor Garden and Museum. Tropical butterflies, exotic birds and themed gardens. Museum has a large collection of 20thC memorabilia. Cost £11.00.
15th May 1pm. Bentley Wildfowl and Motor Museum. Cost £10.50.
12th June 6pm. Evening Mystery Tour. Destination unknown but will include a drink stop. Cost £6.50.
10th July 10am. RHS Gardens, Wisley, Surrey. For details about Wisley visit the RHS website Cost £9.50.
14th August 10am. Arundel, West Sussex. Many attractions: castle, wildfowl centre, antiques, tea shops. Cost £9.00.
11th September 1pm. Hever Castle. Gardens and house. Cost £12.00 (extra for house).
Membership
Annual Membership costs £1.50 for one person or £2.00 for a couple. You will receive a copy of the Schedule which includes details of all the Shows and other events. Subscriptions may be paid at Talks and Shows.
