FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BRIDGEND CONSERVATIVES SELECT FIRST WOMAN PROSPECTIVE PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE

26/10/00

Bridgend Conservative Association has selected Tania Brisby to fight the Bridgend seat at the next General Election.

Tania is a 38 year old wife and mother of two small boys.  She has worked on EU economic assistance programmes in Eastern Europe and is currently a Director at Deutsche Bank in London.  She has 18 years of experience in both public and private sector business and investment in Japan, Europe and North America.

Tania believes that the key issues for Bridgend are employment, education and the protection of our rural community.  Tania believes that the people of South Wales are being let down by Labour in London and by Lib/Lab Labour in the Welsh Assembly.  Tania wants to know:  where is the £1.2 billion of European Objective One grant money?  Tania said after her selection:

"I am delighted to have been selected to fight the Bridgend seat at the General Election.  I will fight for business and jobs in Bridgend and I will speak up for our farmers and our rural heritage in London and Brussels."
