Several months ago we applied to join "Old Home SuperHome", which is a programme to transform existng housing stock to save 60-80% of carbon emissions and energy use. Tthere are over 50 dwellings in the UK which have achieved the minimum 60% savings to join, and when The Recycled House was assessed in June our savings were estimated to be 91%. This amazing figure was achieved partly because the house was sp inefficient before renovation, but also because of the measures taken both to reduce energy use and to switch to renewable sources. |

Old Home Superhome is a collaboration between two charities, the National Energy Foundation and the Sustainable Energy Academy. NEF assists organisations, individuals and communities to reduce their carbon emissions and save money through providing advice and services in renewable energy, energy efficiency and sustainable energy training. |

|
The Sustainable Energy Academy promotes education and action to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings and communities, and is currently spearheading Old Home SuperHome - a network of exemplar old dwellings which have undergone an energy-efficiency retrofit. The aim is to create a network of homes that are local and publicly accessible, within 15 minutes, to nearly everyone in the country. |
