An incomplete clock by John Blaylock (1) of Longtown

This is an early clock by John Blaylock (1) of Longtown but it is sadly incomplete, the original movement having been replaced at sometime in its history. The clock still has the caddy top to the hood.

The clock will restore well and has great charm but the replacement movement has reduced it's worth to a collector. The replacement of clock movements was a practice used in the past so as to provide a quick repair when the original movement required extensive work. Serviceable movements for this purpose were usually removed from painted dial clocks during a period when they had little or no value.
